How do I Stop Child Support
by Nathan from South Daytona, Florida, Volusia County
How do I Stop Child Support?:How do I stop Child Support from being taken from my wages, since the child is now living with me?
The Mother of my son finally gave custody to me after finding out that she has some outstanding warrants for her arrest.
I have been trying to get custody for quite some time. The mother is unstable and Child Protective services have been called due to neglect and abuse.
Every time they were called, she was rewarded with more financial assistance of some sort. My son has been living with his Mother who lives with her grandmother and her other child, a daughter she had before I met her.
Also her sister lives there as well in a small, filthy, 2 bedroom house. She also receives child support for her daughter and was about to lose her due to drugs and neglect when i met her.
I have to work to support us of course and even with the extra money that I would have by not having to pay her child support for a child that now lives with me but I am going to have to try to find a good daycare/learning center because my son is 3 years old and cannot talk as well as most 1 year-olds.
He seems to be doing much better with me but he definitely has some serious emotional issues due to the neglect and abuse... Any information or assistance or information you can give me would be appreciated.

Answer to Florida Court Forms Child Support Question
Dear Nathan,
This is an all too common question we receive here, but usually by the contact-us form, privately. Nathan, you need to file a Supplemental Petition for Modification of Child Support in order to get the support order terminated.
You may want to consider filing a
Supplemental Petition to Modify Parenting Plan/Time-Sharing Schedule and Other Relief instead. With this form, you will be able to ask the court to award you permanent custody and also ask for the child support to be terminated.
Take a look at our pages for these forms (links are below) and contact a lawyer as well. You may be eligible for free or low cost legal services.
