Answer to Florida Court Forms Adoption Question
Dear Maureen,
The process for adopting a family member is similar to the process for a step-parent adoption. The forms for step-parent adoption can be found on the Florida Supreme Court's website at www.flcourts.org .
Looking over those forms and instructions will help you learn about the process, but the forms do not apply directly to a grandparent adoption. Unfortunately, there are no Florida Supreme Court approved forms available for a grandparent adoption.
The Florida Statute that governs adoptions is Chapter 63, Adoption. In a family adoption, including a grandparent adoption, there is generally no requirement for a background check or home study.
